I heard through the grapevine today that there's a sign on my LYS's door saying they are closed for the month of July, but that it is for all intents and purposes closed indefinitely due to [INSERT GENERAL OWNER DRAMA HERE]. I'm not entirely sure what this drama is and don't want to start some bizarre unfounded rumor (maybe like the owner is actually going to convert it to a leather S&M shop, his true passion) but I am bummed. This is where I go for all my tools, to relax and drink coffee, and to indecently fondle yarn. There was a whole wall of Cascade 220 in every color imaginable. I made my first sock there, and did my first two color work (albeit just a useless ring of fabric, but it had two colors, dammit).
If I were a yarn, I would certainly be blue right about now.
I don't mean to sound rude, but how can a business owner afford to close indefinitely?
ReplyDeleteHopefully the drama ends soon or he decide to open back up sooner then later it sucks that a place you learned things & felt comfortable at isn't going to be there.
ReplyDeleteBummer.
ReplyDeleteCould be worse. He could have attempted to fake his own death to get out of keeping the business open.
ReplyDeleteThe bizarre things that happen in the fiber world...
I'm intrigued by the someone who faked their own death :p but yeah, :( bout the LYS :(
ReplyDeleteThat sucks and I know how you feel. There was a restaurant by us that specialized in chili - had a crazy following of people and one day we went there to find a sign on the door saying that it was closed indefinitely. Turns out the owner had died and most of his recipes died with him. So sad! Anyway, I hope that your LYS opens up again soon. :)
ReplyDeleteOh noes, I'm sorry... I hope they open up soon!
ReplyDeleteIts terrible when drama strikes and it seems like the only people really affected by it are...you.
ReplyDeleteNow if it does turn into an S&M shop wouldn't that be odd? Be careful with your rumours...
ReplyDeleteJoking (and I hope you're impressed by the way I avoided making a joke about fondling the merchandise!) Sorry about your potential lys loss. My favourite local bookshop closed recently and I was sad too.
